Prepping for Codex - Supplements, Herbs, Vitamins... etc...
The Codex Alimentarius Commission is working to "harmonize" food and supplement rules, pulling our American health care system down to the level of Third World nations. Under Codex rules, even basic vitamins and minerals will require a doctors prescription.
http://www.newswithviews.com/DeWeese/tom81.htm OK, Have any of you begun Stockpiling whatever Supplements, Herbs, vitamins etc... that you take? What I want to know is how to maximize their shelf life. Can non-opened vitamins last longer in the freezer? Its un-------believeable that these might dissapear off shelves :realmad: natural cures outlawed... NO! |
Re: Prepping for Codex - Supplements, Herbs, Vitamins... etc...
It is important to have stores to fall back on but ultimately stockpiles will run out or go bad and you will be left with nothing. There are only two logical courses of action, fight or produce for yourself.

Re: Prepping for Codex - Supplements, Herbs, Vitamins... etc...
yes, get your colloidal silver generator while you can and stock up on distilled water to make it and some 9 volt batteries. we can all protest and write letters (which i hope everyone is doing) but in the long run the FDA will win. maybe this year, maybe in 5 years (do we have 5 years left before we fall apart?)
but you can do something---yes, learn to grow some fresh veggies, sprouts, its not hard for petes sake, and anyone who gives a hoot is already working on it, even if its just a window box. but you can stock up on some things and learn to make others. you can make your own herbal tinctures-its a piece of cake, guys, and they last indefinitely. yes, thats right. herbs will loose their potency shortly, but if you tincture them, they last indefinetly. how about some elderberry for colds and flu, works damn good---a hell of alot better than waiting til you need any nyquil crap and alot cheaper than buying sambucol. maybe some echinachea, osha, kava kava or perhaps st johns for calming you down.... you can buy it from people like me, or you can save some bucks and make it yourself. anybody can do this. you should do this. order your herbs for what you want. i like www.herbalcom.com but you can do a search and order from alot of places. get a large glass jar and sterilize it with boiling water put the dry herbs in the jar, fill it 1/2 way get some 80 proof vodka pour the vodka in the jar to cover the herbs to about 1 inch over the herb put lid on jar label and date. shake every day once or twice to shake things up good. wait 2-4 week. most folks do it for 2 weeks, i prefer 4, just my way strain out into cheesecloth lined colander squeeze out every last drop you can store in a dark colored bottle (no plastic please) and keep out of sunlight-a cupboard is fine it lasts indefinitely, its yours, you made it and you just saved a lot of bucks. for example--elderberry--sambucol--the stuff works great against colds and flu, it is amazing. everyone should not only have it but use it. just add sugar, as its kinda a sour berry taste. i add 2 cups of sugar per 1 lb batch i make, but try for yourself. like to use echinachea?...make it yourself. st johns wort, make it yourself. this is not rocket science, all you need to do is take the time to read up on what it is you want to make so you know what you are doing and how and when to use it. make sure everything is clean and follow the directions. the time will come when you cant buy this stuff. it is not hard to make these things to take care of yourself and prepare. why do you think they want to outlaw it? cause its cheap and easy and anyone can do it and the stuff works more often and in a safer way than pharma stuff which is synthetic replicas of herbs anyway. im just a pissant herbalist person, i make things for my family and for others, i know what works for what, i took the time to learn and you can learn too. do it now or in a few years you will regret it. be an outlaw, make a tincture!....hey, maybe that will be my new sig line. jazzy |
Re: Prepping for Codex - Supplements, Herbs, Vitamins... etc...
Making tinctures is a great Idea and Im going to start.
Can't make everything.. for example without glucosamine sulfate... My knees and back will age 20 years.. anyone know how to make that? I see stockpiling certain supplements as an absolute necessity... either that, or move to someplace where CODEX will not be eliminating natural healing... and where, would that be??? Anyone have a guess??? |
Re: Prepping for Codex - Supplements, Herbs, Vitamins... etc...
goldenpoet,
i dont know if you take glucosamine sulfate in liquid, tablets or powder, but at the herbalcom site they have it for $13 a pound. im sure you could probably find it on other places too. ive read that it has a 5 year shelf life, maybe more, especially if you vacumn seal it, like in canning jars with one of those pump-n-seal things (they are great, i seal all my herbs like that and lots of other things). but its worth doing some research to double check that. expiration dates are not always meant for the good of the consumer. but, you could stock up. also, you could get yourself some arnica, soak it in olive oil for 30 days, strain and bottle. it is terrific for rubbing on aches and pains in joints, you'll really like it and you will have baby soft skin! i make a salve out of it, but for the easy way to save alot of steps, just make the oil. i sure dont know of anywhere a person could go to get away from people who want to control others, unless its an island and you end up being the benevolent island chief. id recommend starting with making tinctures:elderberry, st johns wort, chamomile, skullcap, lemon balm, peppermint oil: arnica, calandula, comfrey these are just my favorites its soooo easy to do folks. but get yourself 2-3 good books--i like these: the herbal drugstore by white and foster the green pharmacy by duke herbal medicine makers handbook by green (and any other of his books) this is very good for how to do what and when--simple to follow andhas some recipes to follow step by step jazzy |
Re: Prepping for Codex - Supplements, Herbs, Vitamins... etc...
One of the things that you can probably stockpile , because it can be impractical to make yourself , and because they have extremely long shelf lives (at least 25 years for most in what I've read) are essential oils.
As a soaper I have use for several but there are many and they have many varied uses. I use sandalwood, and lavender for the wife and am going to make a larger purchase. Even if Codex doesn't come full force , the price of the oils seems to go up constantly, so it's probably not a bad idea anyway. (same thing is true for the carrier oils , but they don't work for stockpiling). I remember how hard it got just to find the lye for saponifying , something about strict new shipping laws and meth heads. Even just getting the cheapo Red Devil ain't easy in some areas , but I couldn't use that cause I make liquid soaps and need KOH , but I know that the pure NaOH for bar soapers was the same way. An eBay supplier even started making me sign a waver thing with each purchase , after having been a customer for a long time. Seems anything worth doing yourself, because of better quality results , or just because it's economical-- they just try to make harder and harder. |

Re: Prepping for Codex - Supplements, Herbs, Vitamins... etc...
We're thinking along the lines of heirloom seeds to grow ourselves and collect new seeds every year, although good seeds will store quite a few years. Forget stockpiling, the herbs will go bad and lose potency after awhile. You can start out that way, but then you're still going to be back to square one, growing your own. Lots of herbs can be grown indoors year-round.
I think it would probably be prudent to stockpile on the heirloom seeds now while you can, ummm, another item on my things to do list! |
Re: Prepping for Codex - Supplements, Herbs, Vitamins... etc...
People are forgetting the simple solution here if the legislation does get passed.
Talk to your doctor! Find out how difficult it will be to get a prescription for these supplements. Once he approves it, let your medical insurance pay for it and save the cash to buy more silver! :emotions16: |
Re: Prepping for Codex - Supplements, Herbs, Vitamins... etc...
silverstone, if you tincture the herbs they will last indefinitly and will not lose potency. it is not useless to stockpile.
tho i do think it is best to grow your own whenever possible, but when its not going to be possible, tincture now. jazzy |

I got the answer from my local health food store owner. He says that a lot of the health/supplement business is under the table, always has been, and that if CODEX is enacted, the manufacturers of vitamins supplements will just sell on a black market. Whew.. good to know! |

Now we will have herb dealers of a different sort. While I'm not against free enterprise I can't see black market prices being less expensive. Hey man what you in for? I was busted with a kilo of Vit-C man.:bandito: |
